Abstract
Human development can be defined as efforts to improve the quality of human life through various aspects such as education, health, access to resources, and security. The main goal of human development is to enhance human well-being in a comprehensive, equitable, and sustainable manner. This concept is internationally recognized and used by various organizations to measure development progress in different countries (UNDP, 2016). Human development also emphasizes the importance of community participation in the development process, where everyone should have equal opportunities to achieve well-being (Haq, 1995).Additionally, human development involves poverty reduction, gender equality improvement, and human rights protection. Enhancing human well-being depends not only on economic progress but also on the development of human resources, increased access to healthcare and education services, and the reduction of social and economic disparities (UNDP, 2018). In the context of sustainable development, efforts to achieve human development must be central to environmental, social, and economic sustainability (UNDP, 2018). Thus, sustainable human development must address challenges such as climate change, drought, and natural disasters while promoting equality, inclusion, and social justice. The Human Development Index (HDI) is based on three main dimensions: longevity and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. The HDI provides crucial information for policymakers to develop better and more sustainable development policies. One of the primary benefits of the HDI is its ability to compare countries' progress in human development (UNDP, 2023). By comparing HDI across countries, differences in human development progress worldwide can be easily seen and understood. Moreover, the HDI allows the identification of specific problems and challenges faced by individual countries in achieving sustainable human development. By considering these differences and issues, policymakers can develop more effective policies and programs to enhance human development progress in their countries.
